Nevermind the Hazatsu: More Songs

The time comes again for me to upload more of our band's songs. But before that, i would like to thank you all who spared some time sampling our songs from the previous posts and left some very constructive comments here. I know some ppl thought that the comments left here are just too negative (nonetheless, its really sweet of you to back me up sis). But i just want to make a point here that "no comment or critic is unacceptable, as how no idea is a bad idea". It's all the matter of different point of views. Probably this doesn't make much sense to you all, but let's just say one should know there is a bold line between giving comments to ideas and condemning ideas. The latter is totally unacceptable.

Well, all the yapping aside, here is the song that i wanna share. Its called "Mimpiku". Yup, its a malay song. Wrote this song more than a year ago i think. But dont worry, i dont think its like one of those typical rock kapak malaysian songs. Definitely not that kind of material (i hope not!!)

Ok, this time i've decided to put up another song. The next song is called "Shelter" and its one of our earliest songs, back when the band was a 2 piece band (me and Jon) and was known as "The Wilkinsons". Hmmm, those were the days. Check it out.

Entrepreneurship Seminar, Manchester.

Winter holiday started and most of my local frens rushed home to spend Christmas with families. And as for me and the rest of the Malaysian ppl, we headed up north to Manchester to attend a Seminar on Entrepreneurship, sponsored by MARA. Well, its pretty hard to resist free Malaysian food and mingling around with successful and famous business men and women. Hehe. But seriously, i went there because of the knowledge to gain and the fact that each of us will get our own room in a classy hotel. Atleast i know this year i spent my winter holiday in a productive way for the first time. It was fun and informative altogether. The event was held for 3 days and 2 nights. And we had to wear formal attire. Alas, this gave my Lounge Suit the chance to get out of the closet for the 3rd time in 4 years. Despite, it still fits me like a glove.

There were around 80 ppl from all over UK who attended this event. Most of them i dont already know. What can i say, been here for 4 years, and most of the people from my era have graduated and went back home. But i still managed to get to know most of the ppl at the seminar and made a couple of new frens. To my surprise the seminar was quite fun. We were divided into groups and were suppose to form our own business organisations. Yeah, we had to go against each other in a business simulation where they stole most of the ideas from the reality TV show "The Apprentice". The aim was so that we apply the so called "entrepreneurship" skills and knowledge taught to us in the real world, or so they claimed. As for me, it was just nice to get out of Sheffield after a looong semester.

Noise & Confusion:Winter Rock Festival 2005.

10th December 2005, Millenium Stadium, Cardiff, Wales. It was definitely one day worth remembering. I know someone working at BBC Radio Sheffield who got 2 free tickets to the ultimate Rock Festival of the year but sadly she couldn't make it. Fortunately for me, she offered me the tickets. Yeah at the very last minute, like 2 days before the actual concert. Thanks a lot Susan, you're the best.



So i called up a fren at Cardiff, Zarir and asked him to join me, and took the morning train to South Wales the very next day. Yeah its a huge annual event, "Noise & Confusion 2005". The line-up this year was: Yeti, Nic Amstrong and the Thieves, The Subways, Razorlight, The Coral, Foo Fighters and Oasis. To be honest, the only band that i really wanna see live is Foo Fighters. Gosh, they are definitely my Rock idol.


The concert started at noon, all the way till midnight. And we had to stay in the Millenium Arena for almost 12 hours. Its a national stadium with retractable roof. By day it hosts the famous FA Charity Shield games et al, and by night it converts into europe's largest indoor arena. Luckily we had the seated tickets. We were miles away from the stage of course, but the view was alright and there were 2 big screens infront. So we didn't miss much.



My pals in the states told me how great the Foo Fighters are when they are playing live. Damn were they right about it. The songs they played were totally out of this world, definitely an elaboration from the ones u hear in the albums, far better. And the performance was explosive!! Seriously, Kurt Kobain didn't die in vain, but died for a reason afterall. And the reason is Dave Grohl....




The above are the pictures of Oasis playing as the headliner of the day. Gosh, the Brit crowd went absolutely nuts!!! They were jumping and screaming and splashing booze everywhere. I do enjoy listening to them and their songs, but not a huge fan. The performance was at par, thanks to the flamboyant stage lighting, but aside from that, they were just ordinary and nothing to shout about. But i particular admire the calm and coolnest that the Gallagher brothers have in performing. Its like as if u are watching them in a video clip. The arrogant and bad-boy look on their faces, not the mention the attitude they possess, it sure bring pride to the fans and win their hearts.

Most of the other bands were great too, esp The Subways and Razorlight. But i think i should give extra credit to the The Subways' trio. They sounded very solid for a 3 piece band, with a female bassist. Their performance was nearly as explosive as the Foo Fighters and the Oasis. Such a magnitude of confidence, i bet they can go really2 far. And i love their songs too. Very unique. They're the kind of songs that you have to hear over and over again to really enjoy it. overall it was hell of a day. The largest and definitely the best concert i've been too.....

Nevermind The Hazatsu

Yup, the title above is the name of our band. But hold on there, i am not gonna go to all the trouble of writing about how and why we came out with that name. Let's just leave it at that for the moment. Then again, i kinda like that name. :-)

Anyway, we haven't got that much time to get together for our ritual jamming session that often nowadays. yeah everybody seems to be busy with work and everything. Really annoying. I can't stand it. My hands are shaking in anticipation for our next session. Can't wait (though i dont know when that'll be).

Like i said in the previous post, we managed to record some of our original materials. And i think i've just got enough free time to upload one song and share it with the world here. Wanna share another picture. Edited by Jon. Its a picture of me and my flatmates. All 8 of them. Yup, you heard me, there are 9 of us living under one roof: 15 Wilkinson Street. But its not too bad really, there's plenty of space in the house. And it has 7 rooms altogether. Btw, some of them are at home on weekends only. So the house is never too crowded or anything.

Been a long time again ay chap?

Yes, as usual, my excuse for a late update is "i've been busy with school and stuff". Yeah. But i know i need to really give more time for this blogging thing, i mean i do enjoy it, and it really sooth out the stress away from my rib cage, well, to some level of course.

Anyhow, i would like to really thank those of you who visited this blog since my last entry. I'd never figure that anybody would actually spend time reading this thing once and then come again at later time expecting an update, which never really happen that often. (well i do promote this site a lot, :P LOL)

Some ppl have been inquiring a lot about more of our band's songs, esp after "acquiring" the so called complete studio-quality-recording equipment and all. To be honest, we don't really have too much time for recording too, although we manage to record a few songs so far. But then again, i'll try to share the songs as soon as possible. Really soon. I promise.

Just wanna share 2 snapshots of me at barry island, south wales. It is the only "beach" that i've been to during my whole 3 and a half years in UK. What a loser. Let this be a reminder for me to get out of Sheffield more often. So help me God......Hehe. Enjoy!!!

Locked and Loaded: Our own recording studio atlast..

After months of waiting, we are now able to record all of our songs (most songs written by me!! haha!) in a studio quality recording. Yup, our first album is 9 months overdued (oopppss..) but hey, i guess it is worth the wait. I mean what's the purpose of recording songs that turn out crappy when u play it back right?; we need to have a proper recording equipment.

Studio rental aside, we opted to acquiring our own gadgets, and 2 days ago, after months of fund raising, we ordered a cool complete hardware/software recording studio equipment. And yesterday the package came, and we hurriedly tested it with a spontaneous song, yes the one that is playing below. Awesome sound ay? We merely record and did a bit of layering. God knows how good the sound can get after proper editing and mixing. But dont mind the song quality though, just the sound quality. And ehem, excuse the vocalist, we wasn't even singing lyrics. It was all mumblings and hummings.......
